He's not good with punctuation. He knows where it's meant to go but actually adding it seems to be beyond him. Perhaps shorter messages would be easier to read.
You didn't do anything wrong, either.
[ And then, in the world's fastest subject change, he sends a photo. Of Hierophant with a crudely-made hat that looks like it's folded out of wrapping paper, using the brim of it to cover one eye. ]
I’ll figure out if I want him to do this sooner or later. He’s been growing more independent for a while now, since before coming here. But people keep treating him like his own person, and that seems to be accelerating the process.
[ It’s because you’ve been experiencing character development, idiot. ]
It might. He’s been with me since I was very young, so he’s always grown with me. He’s been growing more willing to be out in the open since I started travelling with all of you. I’d assumed it was because he understood that you weren’t threats and it was important strategically for you to know his location, but it seems he’s genuinely enjoying being out in the open more than he used to.
The fact Star he hasn’t changed much is interesting in itself. I suppose it might be normal for a stand developed later in life.
That could be it, too. All of the stands I've run into lately, with the exception of a few, are new; there's one that has some independence from its user, but it's not like Hierophant. They haven't had as much time as you have with their stands.
I didn't have him out a lot until the last few months, too, so that might be it as well.

[ Awkward. ]
I'm sorry. For going quiet. Hierophant was happy that he could talk with you, before.

[now it's his turn to delete and retype what he wants to say a dozen times, the little "..." indicator blinking for a while]
It's fine, Kakyoin. I don't really blame you for going quiet.
I liked talking to Hierophant. Might want to teach him line breaks, though.

He thinks he's funny.

Maybe.
[what . . . what is this picture. Oh my god]
Is he making fun of me?
Tell him I said he looks cool.
no subject
He thinks it's how you use a hat.
I'm not going to tell him he's cool. He'll just keep doing it if I do.
no subject
That's fine. I'll just tell him myself when you get here, then.

[Stands are an extension of them, after all, it would make sense to him. But he continues, because it's technically a rhetorical question]
Star has moments, but he hasn't really changed much.
